Artificial intelligence (AI) is breaking down the barriers to starting a business, and a Roblox product lead believes it might disrupt the traditional corporate career path.

Roblox product lead and content creator Peter Yang recently discussed on venture capital firm a16z's podcast about the evolution of work in the AI era.

Yang mentioned he prefers his children, who are 4 and 7, to skip college and the corporate world for entrepreneurship.

"I wish for them to create their own businesses in high school, allowing them to bypass both college and corporate life," Yang stated.

AI has facilitated platforms enabling users to create complete businesses through a single app, offering functionalities like storefront development and marketing.

These "business-in-a-box" solutions are assisting individuals in establishing businesses with vast growth potential quickly, remarked podcast host Anish Acharya. It's an alternative to being just a number at a large corporation.

For instance, an AI-fueled platform managing all your social media platforms from one spot.

Such AI-crafted businesses might run with just one person, operating smoothly with the assistance of agents.

As organisations expand, Yang noted, they might deteriorate as workplaces. He remembered lengthy meetings at a previous job that he felt were "a waste of my time."

Today, there are avenues helping more individuals become founders and manage smaller enterprises just as they wish.

He highlighted that you could have a product team made up of two or three people, bolstered by AI agents, instead of a ten-person crew. Yang mentioned that the younger generations are catching onto that.

"I aspire for more companies to remain small, and I think today's founders recognise that staying as small as possible is desirable," Yang shared with Acharya.

The struggling tech labour market is also creating chances for individuals to dream big, Yang observed.

US tech job cuts in the first quarter hit their peak since 2023, with AI significantly to blame.

"Perhaps you lost your job, but now you have the opportunity to carve out your own path," he mentioned.
