GoPro has revealed its intention to cut nearly one-fourth of its staff as part of a strategy to regain profitability, having faced growing competition and decreasing earnings.

The reductions, disclosed in a Form 8-K filing, will impact around 145 positions, which accounts for roughly 23 percent of GoPro’s 631-member team.

The move might cost GoPro as much as $15 million in severance pay and healthcare support.

The organisation plans to execute these reductions during the second quarter of 2026, finalising most of them by the year’s end.

The company previously downsized during two separate cuts in 2024.

GoPro had predicted a return to profitability by the conclusion of the 2025 fiscal year but instead faced a year-end deficit.

Its action and 360 cameras have encountered intensified rivalry from brands like DJI and Insta360.

To combat this, GoPro has announced that new cameras, set to be unveiled at this month’s NAB tradeshow, will be powered by a new GP3 processor focused on delivering more professional capabilities than ever.
