Country star Kelsea Ballerini embraces New York lifestyle after split

Kelsea Ballerini, the six-time Grammy nominee, has clarified that her recent relocation to New York City is a temporary "chapter" intended to last through the summer.

The 32-year-old country star first announced her departure from Tennessee on 20 March 2026, during an appearance at Carnegie Hall.

Speaking to the audience, she noted: "Ever since I was a little kid and I got here for the first time, I always promised myself that I would do a season or chapter of life in the city and that season and chapter is right now."

However, at the Fashion Trust U.S. Awards on Tuesday, Ballerini told E! News that the move is “just for now” rather than permanent.

The transition follows her confirmed split from Outer Banks actor Chase Stokes, whom she dated for nearly three years.

Following the breakup, the "Cowboys Cry Too" singer has embraced her independence, stating: “I feel this resurgence of energy just doing stuff for myself. It's been really nice, and I'm really excited.”

Her current mission involves exploring the city's culinary scene, specifically searching for the perfect spicy rigatoni.

Despite recent personal challenges, she shared a resilient message on Instagram on 16 February, acknowledging a year that "brought endings you didn't expect."

She added: "But look at you. You're still here. Wiser. Stronger." Ballerini, who rose to fame with her 2015 debut The First Time, continues to balance her personal growth with a busy schedule of live performances and upcoming musical releases.
