SwitchBot is releasing a renewed model of their small button-pushing robot that originally launched the company a decade ago.

The new SwitchBot Bot operates just like the initial model, which the firm will keep selling, but now comes with a rechargeable battery instead of a disposable one.

The SwitchBot Bot Rechargeable is currently available on the company’s website and Amazon for $33.99, as opposed to $29.99 for the original version.

The original uses one 3V CR2 battery, which are less common than AA or coin batteries.

While you can find them at a reasonable price when bought in bulk, opting for the rechargeable model will save you money if used over a long period.

The easily controlled SwitchBot Bot Rechargeable can be set up by simply mounting it onto a button or rocker switch where it will mechanically press using a small arm that moves in and out.

Similar to the original, the battery is accessed by taking off a panel on the bot’s front, so there’s no need to remove it completely.

Instead of replacing a battery, the rechargeable 370mAh model features a USB-C port on the side for charging.

This rechargeable version could be a greener and more environmentally friendly option of the SwitchBot Bot, though it comes with a significant difference.

While the standard model's battery can last up to 600 days with twice-a-day use, the rechargeable version is expected to last six months with just one press each day.
