An English woman has received a 14-month jail sentence following a crash involving a car packed with teenagers.
Faye Dawson lost control of her Vauxhall Corsa on Delphouse Road, Cheadle on March 7, 2025, according to a news release from Staffordshire Police.
She was speeding at 80 mph — 20 miles over the limit — while driving on the incorrect side of the street before the collision.
Five teenagers, aged between 14 and 15, were passengers in the Corsa, reported by the UK news source LBC. Four of them sustained injuries, with one needing hospital care for a spinal injury.
Recently, Staffordshire Police released dashcam footage showing the teenagers yelling and urging Dawson, 50, to reduce her speed.
"I'm a rally car driver and a b-word," she comments. "You step in here at your own risk."
She is also overheard asking, "Have you fastened your seatbelts? Because if something happens, it's not on me," followed by, "I'm not a safe driver. Right now I’ve been drinking and smoking, making me even more d--- risky."
Dawson from Nicholson Road, Cheadle, was handed a one-year and two-month prison sentence by the Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on March 25, after confessing to reckless driving, says the BBC. She faces a driving prohibition for four years and seven months.
“Dawson's behaviour was both reckless and thoughtless, and this prison term is a suitable reflection," stated PC Luke Randall, the lead investigator, according to Staffordshire Police's update.
The teenage girl enduring a spinal fracture shared with LBC, "I feared for my life. I missed school to heal.
"I get really nervous in cars now. I'm plagued by bad dreams and lingering memories. I've had to cope with back discomfort for half a year," she mentioned.
