Pregnant mother gives birth to baby girl after tragic crash
Emmanuel Garcia confirmed his wife remains in recovery after the fatal road accident
A pregnant mother who was critically injured in a Tucson car crash that claimed the life of her three-year-old daughter has successfully given birth to a baby girl.
In a moving statement shared with "KOLD" on Tuesday, Emmanuel Garcia confirmed the arrival of his daughter, Ellianna.
"It is with a heavy and joyful heart that I announce the birth of my baby girl," Garcia stated, describing the infant as "strong, healthy, and beautiful."
The birth follows a devastating collision on Friday, at the intersection of East Valencia Road and South Country Club Road, which resulted in the death of the couple's toddler, Anna.
The Tucson Police Department reported that the family's Toyota Camry was struck by a white Hyundai Genesis, an impact so violent it split the Camry in half.
Authorities allege the Genesis, driven by 22-year-old Christian Isaiah Randall, and a Dodge Charger driven by an unidentified 16-year-old, were travelling well above the speed limit at the time.
Both drivers have been arrested and charged with second-degree murder, among other counts. Although Anna was properly restrained in a car seat, she was tragically pronounced deceased shortly after the incident.
While celebrating the birth of Ellianna, Garcia noted that his wife remains hospitalised and continues to face a difficult physical and emotional recovery.
"I humbly ask for all of your continued prayers for my wife, who is still fighting not only the loss of her precious girl but her own recovery," he shared.
A GoFundMe page organised by the family's sister-in-law, Samantha Bracamonte, continues to raise funds for medical expenses.
