Victoria Beckham has broken her long-standing silence regarding the high-profile estrangement from her eldest son, Brooklyn.
In a guarded interview with The Wall Street Journal’s WSJ. Magazine published on Thursday, the fashion mogul addressed the rift that has dominated headlines for months, following Brooklyn’s explosive public statement in January.
Refraining from using Brooklyn’s name directly, Victoria offered a measured defence of her parenting. "I think that we've always—we love our children so much," she stated.
"We've always tried to be the best parents that we can be. And you know, we've been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we've ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that's all I really want to say about it."
The comment serves as a subtle rebuttal to Brooklyn’s earlier six-page social media manifesto, in which he vowed "not to reconcile" with his family.
The 27-year-old launched a series of blistering accusations, claiming his mother "hijacked" his first dance at his 2022 wedding and that his parents "repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe" him into signing away the rights to his name.
Brooklyn further alleged that "Brand Beckham" was always prioritised over authentic family love, leading to years of crippling anxiety that only subsided after he went "no contact" with his parents.
While David Beckham has previously brushed off the drama as "social media mistakes," Victoria’s rare remarks highlight the deep-seated tension currently threatening the once-unshakeable Beckham unit.
