Hollywood superstar Jennifer Lopez has revealed that co-star Brett Goldstein was prepared to abandon their latest film project, Office Romance, had she declined the lead role.
Speaking on an episode of Sirius XM’s BPM the 56-year-old artist detailed the high-stakes casting process for her character, Jackie Cruz.
Lopez explained that Goldstein and co-writer Joe Kelly were so adamant about her involvement that they issued a definitive ultimatum.
"They sent me the script and they were like, 'We wrote this for you. If you don't do it, we're not even making the movie,'" she recalled during the broadcast.
The Ted Lasso actor, who portrays Daniel Blanchflower in the romantic comedy, reportedly crafted the persona of the high-powered CEO specifically for Lopez.
After reviewing the material with her producing partner, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Lopez admitted they "really loved it" and found the script incredibly humorous.
The plot follows Jackie, the disciplined President of Air Cruz, whose strict anti-fraternisation policies are challenged by a new employee.
Expressing her gratitude for the opportunity, Lopez stated she is "glad" she accepted and remains "really excited for people to see it."
The production boasts an ensemble cast including Tony Hale, Bradley Whitford, and Amy Sedaris.
Office Romance is scheduled for global release on Netflix on 5 June 2026. This project follows Lopez’s decades-long career as a dominant force in both the music industry and global cinema, having recently starred in the acclaimed Kiss of the Spider Woman.
