Grammy-winning singer Maren Morris has opened up to fans about her "bisexual journey," describing her first relationship with a woman as a deeply distressing experience.
In a TikTok video shared on Wednesday, the 36-year-old songstress detailed how a brief, casual fling quickly spiralled into a "f–ked up" situation involving lies and "borderline extortion."
Morris explained that although she was transparent about not seeking a serious commitment, the other party did not respect those boundaries.
Within three weeks of the relationship ending, the singer claimed she faced serious threats to her reputation, which she found "just so depressing" as her inaugural experience within the community.
Despite the turmoil, Morris shared the story with a touch of disbelief, noting that friends from the lesbian community told her such "life-ruining" early experiences are surprisingly common.
The "Bones" singer jokingly captioned her post "bi trauma" but admitted that the ordeal has left her feeling "really cool being alone" for the time being.
This candid revelation follows a series of post-divorce dating frustrations for the mother-of-one; in August 2025, she memorably described previous suitors as "losers" and "bums" who were unable to pay their share of the bill. These experiences notably inspired her hit single "Too Good" and her recent album Dreamsicle.
Morris, who finalised her divorce from fellow musician Ryan Hurd in 2024, first came out as bisexual during Pride Month that same year.
While she continues to navigate her personal life and co-parent her six-year-old son, Hayes, she has embraced a "no filter" approach to her songwriting.
Having performed at "Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve" to welcome 2026, Morris remains a dominant voice in the music industry while prioritising her self-discovery.
