Canadian actor and musician Finn Wolfhard is facing significant criticism from Taylor Swift’s dedicated fanbase following a recent live performance with his band.
The Stranger Things star ignited a social media firestorm after he chose to recreate the infamous 2009 MTV Video Music Awards incident, in which Kanye West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech.
During his set, the 23-year-old performer repeated West’s notorious line: "Hey Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!"
The backlash was immediate, with fans—commonly known as Swifties—descending upon Wolfhard’s Instagram account.
Despite his last post dating back to June 2025, the comments section has been overwhelmed by an "onslaught" of negative remarks.
One incensed user reportedly posted the phrase "Worst actor ever (Finn Wolfhard)" repeatedly, while others labelled the day a "flop" for the celebrity.
To date, Wolfhard has neither disabled his comments nor issued a public response to the escalating controversy.
Netizens have questioned the decision to revisit the seventeen-year-old dispute, with some accusing the actor of "clout chasing" to remain relevant as his flagship Netflix series concludes.
Wolfhard rose to global prominence as Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things and has since balanced his acting career with various musical ventures.
While he continues to tease new solo projects, Taylor Swift is reportedly focused on her upcoming wedding to fiancé Travis Kelce, scheduled for July 2026.
