The community of Herriman, Utah, is in mourning following the discovery of a suspected murder-suicide involving 43-year-old Lindha Paola Zerpa Lara.

Police conducted a welfare check on the evening of Friday, where they found the body of the female victim, who appeared to have suffered fatal blunt force trauma.

Alongside her was the body of a man whose injuries appeared self-inflicted. While official identification of the male is pending, police confirmed he did not reside at the property.

Lara, a Venezuelan immigrant who moved to the United States eight years ago, was a prominent entrepreneur and the owner of Pao Glow & Beauty in Salt Lake City.

Family friends, Patricia Quinonez and Fabian Rapalino, revealed that the tragedy occurred just twenty-four hours after Lara filed for divorce on Thursday.

Court records confirm a petition was filed in the Salt Lake County Third Judicial District on that date. Friends stated that Lara had intended to meet her estranged husband on the day she died to discuss their ten-year-old child, who was fortunately not present during the incident.

Described as a "bright light" and a dedicated advocate for the local Venezuelan community, Lara’s death has prompted outpourings of grief.

Her mother, who lives in nearby Magna, is reportedly devastated by the loss of her daughter. While the investigation remains ongoing, the Herriman City Police Department has not yet confirmed if the male involved was the individual named in the divorce petition.

This tragic event highlights the extreme risks associated with domestic transitions and has left a young child without parents.
