Madonna pushes ahead with long-delayed biopic, 'will not take no for an answer’
The project may now be developed as a limited series
Madonna is reportedly more determined than ever to bring her long-anticipated biopic to the screen, with insiders claiming the pop icon is refusing to abandon her vision for the project despite years of delays.
The film, first announced in 2020, is set to be directed and co-written by Madonna herself and would chronicle her rise to global superstardom.
According to sources, the singer remains firmly committed to telling her own story on her own terms.
“She will not take no for an answer. This is her story, and she’s going to tell it her way,” an insider told RadarOnline.
Julia Garner is still attached to portray Madonna in the project, which has reportedly been in development limbo since 2023.
However, new reports suggest the concept may now be reworked into a limited series rather than a traditional feature film.
Sources say the shift reflects the scale of Madonna’s life story, which spans decades of reinvention, controversy, and global success.
“Madonna realised the story is too big for two hours,” the insider said. “She wants the full ride the struggle, the ambition, the chaos.”
At 67, Madonna is said to remain firm on maintaining full creative control, with insiders describing her as unwilling to compromise on the scope or tone of the project.
“Madonna doesn’t do small. Ever,” the source added.
The pop legend previously acknowledged the challenges of developing the script in a 2024 social media post, revealing that she had spent years refining the screenplay while facing pushback from industry executives.
“I’ve been working on it for 4 years,” she wrote at the time, adding that she refused to “downsize” or “think smaller” despite repeated suggestions to scale the project back.
She also described the process as deeply personal and creatively demanding, comparing script revisions to “hacking off my limbs” in a 2022 interview.
