Aubrey Plaza names Seth Meyers among top choices to deliver her baby

Aubrey Plaza had Late Night host Seth Meyers laughing during a recent appearance after jokingly asking him to deliver her baby and narrowing her list of potential “delivery options” to him or another Hollywood legend.

The Parks and Recreation star, 41, who is expecting her first child with partner Christopher Abbott, appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers to promote her upcoming animated series Kevin, but the conversation quickly turned personal when Meyers asked about her pregnancy.

“May need you to pull it out,” Plaza said playfully, prompting a stunned response from Meyers, who asked if she was serious.

“That’s why I came here tonight,” she added jokingly, as Meyers immediately pushed back, saying he would “rather not” take on the role.

Plaza doubled down on the joke, revealing she had only two candidates in mind for the job: Meyers or actor Henry Winkler.

“It’s either you or Henry Winkler,” she said. “Those are my top two.”

Meyers quickly sided with Winkler, suggesting the Happy Days star would be the better choice, a sentiment Plaza agreed with, referencing Winkler’s previous on-screen experience “delivering” her baby during Parks and Recreation.

“He delivered my baby on Parks and Rec, so that’s all I know,” Plaza said.

The lighthearted exchange comes shortly after Plaza confirmed her pregnancy publicly, following earlier reports that she and Abbott are expecting their first child later this year. 

A source previously told People the pregnancy was “a beautiful surprise after an emotional year,” adding that the couple feels “very blessed.”

Plaza also recently opened up about the news on the Smartless podcast, joking about the surreal experience of undergoing medical scans alongside her dog on the same day she had an ultrasound.

“It already has a cloak and a little hat,” she joked about the baby, before adding that she and Abbott are excited about becoming parents for the first time.
