King Charles has been awarded a special Green Blue Peter Badge to mark Earth Day, in recognition of his lifelong dedication to environmental conservation.

The BBC shared images of the monarch receiving the prestigious honour at Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland.

The presentation, filmed for an upcoming special edition of the iconic children’s programme, saw host Joel Mawhinney hand the King the award.

Traditionally, the green version of the badge is reserved for individuals who have made a significant impact on environmental causes and the protection of the natural world.

The ceremony took place during the closing event for The King’s Foundation’s 35th anniversary time capsule.

According to the official BBC social media announcement, "The Green Badge acknowledges The King’s lifelong commitment to protecting nature and his work through The @kingsfoundation, which champions sustainable communities, environmental education, traditional skills and working in harmony with nature."

This latest honour joins the King's long list of environmental accolades, dating back decades to his early advocacy for organic farming and sustainability.

During the filming, the monarch appeared in good spirits as he engaged with the presenters and discussed the importance of the foundation's educational work.

The special episode of Blue Peter featuring the presentation is scheduled to air on CBBC on 1 May 2026. This recognition highlights the ongoing influence of the monarch's charitable ventures, which have long sought to bridge the gap between traditional skills and modern ecological needs.

Looking ahead, the King is expected to continue his global advocacy for biodiversity and climate action through various upcoming international summits.
