Jason Biggs opened up about feeling "anxious" when he first decided to share his journey to sobriety.

"I was apprehensive because my story heavily involves relapse," the actor, 47, mentioned to Page Six at the City Harvest Presents the 2026 Gala: Shaken, Not Stirred on Tuesday evening.

"I spent my initial four years going back and forth with AA, relapsing and facing challenges."

The “American Pie” actor mentioned that he decided to speak out to keep himself “responsible” and to possibly “inspire others.”

Last year, Biggs was a guest on the “Well with Arielle Lorre” podcast, where he shared that in the depths of his addiction, he once climbed into a trash bin to recover some remaining drugs.

"I thought, 'What on earth am I doing? This is truly madness,'" Biggs reflected, noting that he successfully kept the severity of his addiction hidden from his wife, Jenny Mollen.

Back in 2018, the “Orange Is the New Black” actor shared a photo of his one-year sobriety token on social media.

“My first attempt at sobriety was over five years ago, when the burden of my alcohol and drug obsession became overwhelming,” he wrote along with the picture.

"This journey isn’t easy. After a few false starts, I’ve achieved a year without substance. It's one of my proudest achievements. If you're going through this, remember there's support out there. Don’t be embarrassed. We can get through this together.”

Biggs was present to support City Harvest, an organisation that saves food destined for waste and provides it free to needy New Yorkers.

The “Loser” actor mentioned he strongly dislikes wasting food, describing himself as a “leftovers kind of guy.”

"I save, eat, and turn them into different meals," he explained. "I’m the person who takes leftover Chinese food, adds eggs in the morning, and creates a breakfast scramble."

Biggs also shared that he enjoys cooking and is proud of a pasta sauce that “I find tasty, while my kids find delicious.”

The glamorous night, which garnered a record-setting amount to provide over 12 million meals, paid tribute to Cote chef Simon Kim and was hosted by Bowen Yang from “SNL.”
