Megan Thee Stallion ends relationship with Klay Thompson citing ‘broken trust’
Social media posts hinted at tensions before the breakup was officially announced
Megan Thee Stallion has confirmed she has ended her relationship with Klay Thompson, signaling the breakup after nearly a year of dating.
In a statement to Us Weekly, the rapper said the decision came down to core relationship values.
“Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward,” she said, adding that she is now focusing on herself and moving ahead “with peace and clarity.”
The announcement followed a series of pointed social media posts in which the Hot Girl Summer hitmaker appeared to allude to infidelity.
Without naming Thompson directly, she referenced feeling unsupported and questioned commitment, suggesting the relationship had reached a breaking point.
Thompson, who currently plays in the NBA, has not publicly responded to the split.
She also aimed at Klay Thompson via her Instagram stories, where she wrote:
The breakup marks a stark contrast to the couple’s recent public dynamic. Just months earlier, Megan had spoken positively about the relationship, describing herself as “comfortable” and emphasizing that it came at a time when she had been prioritizing personal growth, including therapy and self-care.
“I had already been doing a lot of work to heal me,” she previously said, noting that the relationship entered her life when she was in a better mental space.
Earlier this year, Thompson had also made headlines for gifting the rapper a luxury car during her birthday celebrations, underscoring what appeared to be a strong bond at the time.
The split now brings an abrupt end to their relationship, with Megan making clear that her focus remains on personal well-being and maintaining standards she considers essential.
