  • Nedra Talley Ross died peacefully at her home on Sunday morning, aged eighty.
  • She was the last surviving original member of the famous Ronettes girl group.
  • The Ronettes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.

Nedra Talley Ross, the final surviving member of the legendary 1960s girl group The Ronettes, has died at the age of 80.

The iconic group’s official Facebook page shared the news on Sunday, describing Ross as "a light to those who knew and loved her."

Her daughter, Nedra K. Ross, confirmed that her mother passed away peacefully at approximately 8:30 am in her own bed, surrounded by family.

As a founding member of The Ronettes alongside her cousins Ronnie Spector and Estelle Bennett, Talley Ross was instrumental in defining the "Wall of Sound" that transformed the music industry.

The group achieved international stardom after signing with Philles Records in 1963, producing timeless hits such as "Be My Baby" and "Baby, I Love You."

The official statement noted: "Nedra’s voice, style and spirit helped define a sound that would change music. Her contribution to the group’s story and their defining influence will live forever."

The trio remained highly influential for their signature beehive hairstyles and powerful vocals until they split in 1967.

Talley Ross’s death follows the passing of Estelle Bennett in 2009 and Ronnie Spector in 2022. While the Ronettes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007, their legacy continues to be celebrated, with a highly anticipated A24 biopic titled "Be My Baby" currently in development, featuring actress Zendaya in the role of lead singer Ronnie Spector.
