Amazon MGM Studios has released a teaser for Verity, a psychological thriller starring Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson, and it is generating buzz for its intense, boundary-pushing moments.
The film, adapted from Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, follows the unsettling story of Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson), a struggling writer who is hired to ghostwrite for injured literary star Verity Crawford (Hathaway).
As Lowen relocates to the secluded Crawford estate, she discovers what appears to be Verity’s deeply disturbing autobiographical manuscript—filled with dark confessions that blur the lines between truth and fiction.
As the tension builds, Lowen becomes entangled in a complex web involving Verity’s husband Jeremy, played by Josh Hartnett.
The teaser hints at a dangerous mix of manipulation, obsession, and desire, leaving Lowen questioning everything she uncovers.
One of the teaser’s most talked-about moments features a steamy kiss between Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson, only to take a shocking turn when Verity suddenly appears and takes over, ending the encounter with a startling, bloody bite.
Directed by Michael Showalter and written by Nick Antosca, the film also stars Ismael Cruz Córdova and Brady Wagner. Both Showalter and Antosca serve as producers on the project.
Verity is set to hit theaters on October 2. The teaser will also be featured alongside screenings of Hathaway’s upcoming sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2, arriving in cinemas this weekend.
