Kris Jenner mentions that her divorce from Robert Kardashian Sr. made her realise her lack of financial knowledge.

During Tuesday's "SHE MD" podcast, the Kardashian-Jenner family's "momager" discussed how her first marriage's end was pivotal in her financial outlook.

"I was married to an intelligent and proficient lawyer, who wasn't controlling but enjoyed managing all household responsibilities, finances, and ensuring our care. So, he took charge," Jenner recounted.

Jenner recalled a chat post-divorce that highlighted her financial ignorance regarding household costs.

"I remember my friend questioned me after my divorce about my independence. She asked, 'How much is your gardener?' and I replied, 'I'm not sure. Should I know that?'" Jenner recalled the dialogue.

Reflecting on her past, Jenner expressed regret about not being more involved in her family's finances, instead of depending solely on her ex-spouse.

"I felt disappointed in myself for not understanding many things," Jenner said, acknowledging there were "budgets" and limits rather than unchecked spending.

"The experience taught me to become more aware of my life's financial aspects, including spending, investments, and allocations," Jenner shared.

Beyond budgeting, Jenner discussed her need to manage being a single mother and independence before the internet era.

However, this challenge eventually instilled a sense of confidence and a new purpose. Jenner felt excited about returning to work and embarking on this new chapter of her life.

"I wasn't sure where this would lead, but it was an enjoyable process of figuring it out," Jenner mentioned.

She and her former husband were married from 1978 to 1991, sharing four kids: Kim, Khloé, Kourtney, and Rob Kardashian.

In a 2021 talk with The Wall Street Journal, Jenner shared that her first divorce forced her to learn about new responsibilities.

"I experienced pride in managing finances, earning, and handling taxes independently. Although there were tight times, I stayed organised," Jenner stated.

She helped elevate her family to fame by launching "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" in 2007, running for 20 seasons before ending in 2021. They returned to reality TV a year later with "The Kardashians" on Hulu.

Jenner also oversees her daughters' careers. In 2022, she mentioned to Forbes her 10% share of her children's earnings.
