Gotham City is set to introduce new characters as production on 'The Batman: Part II' begins
Gotham City is rolling out the welcome mat for some new characters as The Batman: Part II begins filming.
Subsequent to Deadline's announcement that Sebastian Stan was negotiating to star in the sequel as Harvey Dent, also known as Two-Face, and Scarlett Johansson contemplated a role, the writer and director Matt Reeves verified the casting on social platforms with a GIF, as well as additional new cast members.
“Thinking Gotham… Welcome,” noted Reeves in Stan’s reveal.
Reeves additionally uploaded a GIF of Johansson peering into a car’s rear-view mirror. “Next stop, Gotham… Welcome,” he commented.
Embracing a Gen Z-friendly approach, Reeves posted GIFs of Brian Tyree Henry, Sebastian Koch and Charles Dance, whose involvement Deadline previously reported.
In the past week, Reeves revealed that filming commenced for The Batman: Part II, teasing images of the Batmobile cruising through wintry scenes.
In July, Gunn announced that the script for The Batman: Part II had been completed, following a series of postponements.
By August, a letter to Warner Bros. Discovery's stakeholders confirmed that production on the sequel would begin in spring, ahead of its scheduled theatrical debut on 1 October 2027.
