J Balvin reveals son Rio has inherited his love for fashion and art
The proud father said he plans to support his son no matter what path he chooses
J Balvin opened up about fatherhood and revealed that his young son, Rio, is already developing a strong personality — especially when it comes to fashion.
The 41-year-old global music star shared rare insights into family life during an appearance at the KidSuper x Jameson Capsule Collection event in Brooklyn, New York, on May 6.
Speaking in an interview with People, Balvin said his son Rio, who turns 5 in June, enjoys picking out his own outfits and already has an eye for style.
Balvin, who shares Rio with longtime partner Valentina Ferrer, said the youngster loves putting together matching hats, sneakers, and hoodies, joking that the child already knows exactly what he is doing when it comes to fashion.
The “I Like It” hitmaker added that while Rio appears to share his love for creativity and self-expression, the child has not yet shown much interest in sports. Instead, Balvin believes his son may be drawn more toward the arts.
Despite his own success in music, the Colombian superstar said he intends to fully support whatever career path Rio eventually chooses.
Balvin even admitted he would not mind if his son pursued something outside the music industry, noting there are many different ways to find happiness in life.
Alongside fatherhood, Balvin also discussed his growing involvement in fashion and sports culture.
The singer recently teamed up with designer Colm Dillane for the KidSuper x Jameson collaboration tied to soccer and the World Cup.
Balvin also co-owns soccer team Super Niños FC with Dillane.
The collaboration inspired the release of Balvin’s new single Pal Agua with Ryan Castro.
Reflecting on the connection between music, sports and fashion, Balvin described all three as parts of a larger cultural language that brings people together.
