Google I/O 2026 has officially commenced, marking what the company is billing as a comprehensive shift towards agentic artificial intelligence. The event, which kicked off at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET, is headlined by a sweeping range of AI-powered announcements, with Gemini once again at the centre of the showcase.

Google AI Ultra plan

Google has officially launched its new AI Ultra subscription plan, starting at $100 per month, giving users access to the company's most advanced AI capabilities.

Antigravity CLI, SDK and desktop app

Google has released Antigravity CLI, SDK, and native voice support globally, alongside the Antigravity 2.0 desktop app — an agent-first experience powered by Gemini 3.5 Flash.

Gemini 3.5 Flash

A significant performance upgrade to Gemini 3.5 Flash has been announced, with the new model said to be four times faster than rival models and capable of processing more than three trillion tokens daily — a considerable leap from its predecessor, Gemini 3.1 Pro.

SynthID and C2PA verification

To address growing concerns around AI-generated content, Google has integrated SynthID and C2PA verification tools into both Search and Chrome, helping users identify AI-generated images more easily.

Gemini Omni and Omni Flash

Google introduced Gemini Omni, a model designed for simulating scientific concepts and generating video content. The accompanying Omni Flash model is currently accessible via the Gemini app, Google Flow, and YouTube Shorts.

Ask YouTube

The Ask YouTube feature has received a significant update, now enabling users to pose complex questions and receive relevant video-based answers directly.

Gemini Spark

Google unveiled Gemini Spark, a personal AI agent powered by Gemini Flash 3.5 and the Antigravity harness. Spark is designed to assist users in navigating their digital lives, taking actions on their behalf, and simplifying everyday tasks.

Gemini app redesign

The Gemini app has been given a full redesign under the name Neural Expressive, featuring new colours, animations, and a repositioned Gemini Live icon.

Other major announcements

Additional highlights from the event include the unveiling of Android XR smart glasses and Aluminium OS — a new operating system that merges Android and ChromeOS into a single unified platform.

Google I/O 2026 is being livestreamed on Google's YouTube channel and on the official Google I/O website.
