Music executive Scooter Braun has publicly expressed support for reality television star Spencer Pratt, praising his unconventional campaign to become the next mayor of Los Angeles.

The 42-year-old former Hills star announced his bid for mayor earlier this year, positioning himself as an outsider candidate focused on what he describes as practical, direct solutions for the city.

Speaking on the Second Thought podcast, Braun said he was struck by Pratt’s approach and the issues he has been raising during his campaign.

“What I really do appreciate about what Spencer’s doing is he is bringing a lot of things to light that no one’s brought to light,” Braun said. “I think he’s speaking for a lot of people who are very frustrated and want common sense and want people to speak plainly and address certain things.”

Braun added that Pratt’s messaging resonates with voters who feel disconnected from traditional political discourse, noting that many are looking for straightforward communication from candidates.

“I think he’s speaking ‘common sense,’” he said. “It’s very interesting to watch.”

Pratt has been vocal about his political ambitions in recent months, often using interviews and social media appearances to criticize local leadership and outline his vision for the city.

He has also stated that he would consider leaving Los Angeles entirely if he is unsuccessful in his campaign. In comments made during an interview with comedian Adam Carolla, Pratt said he would relocate if current or alternative city leadership remains unchanged.

“If Karen Bass gets re-elected, or Nithya Raman gets elected, I will be done with trying to live in Los Angeles,” he said.

Pratt, who has been married to Heidi Montag since 2008, has also been involved in legal disputes following the destruction of the couple’s home in the Pacific Palisades fire in 2025. He and Montag filed a lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) in connection with the incident.

Despite the ongoing legal and political battles, Pratt has maintained that his focus remains on rebuilding and reshaping his future, whether in Los Angeles or elsewhere.

“I will not rebuild if these people are in charge,” he said. “What would I be putting money into?”

As his mayoral campaign continues to draw attention, Pratt’s bid has become one of the more unconventional entries into the city’s political conversation, now further amplified by support from high-profile figures like Braun.
