Charli XCX teases bold direction for new album following BRAT success

Charli XCX has confirmed that her next studio album is officially finished, teasing a new era of music that she says will mark a bold shift from her previous sound.

The British singer-songwriter shared the update on TikTok on Sunday, May 31, revealing that her upcoming seventh studio album is complete, though she has yet to announce its title or release date.

In the short video, Charli XCX appeared relaxed on a couch as she spoke candidly about the project and warned fans that the new record will sound very different from her recent work.

“It’s really different from the last one, that is a fact,” she said, adding that listeners should expect a more experimental direction.

“I love it and you might not, that’s cool,” she continued. “If you do then that’s cute, but if you don’t, that’s totally okay because that’s what it is to have personal preferences.”

Charli XCX, who recently released her acclaimed sixth studio album BRAT, has been widely praised for redefining her pop sound with tracks such as “360,” “Von Dutch,” and “Apple.” 

The record marked a major career milestone and solidified her status as one of pop’s most influential modern artists.

While details remain under wraps, she has already released early singles including “Rock Music” and “SS26,” hinting at a continued evolution in style.
