Actress Lily James has spoken out against modern dating behavior, calling “ghosting” the most “disgusting” habit and insisting that people who do it should “never be allowed to date again.”

The Cinderella star made the comments during an appearance on Deadline.com’s Take Ten video series, where she reflected on dating culture and the rise of dating apps.

James, who has previously dated actor Matt Smith and musician Michael Shuman, said she strongly disapproves of the practice where someone abruptly cuts off all communication without explanation.

“With dating apps, I’ve never really done them… But ghosting is just so disgusting and anyone that ghosts should be just never allowed to date again! Cancelled!” she said.

She added that the behavior happens frequently and called it “so gross,” urging people to simply communicate.

“Just write back. It’s so weird,” she said, before laughing and clarifying, “Not that that comes from personal experience.”

Despite her criticism of dating apps, James acknowledged the vulnerability involved in putting oneself out there, whether online or in real life.

“There is cringey stuff there but who am I to say anything, I am super cringe,” she added.

During the interview, the actress also discussed her upcoming role in a new adaptation of the 1993 action film Cliffhanger.

She revealed that the project pushed her to her physical limits, as she trained in real mountaineering for filming in Italy’s Dolomites.

“We shot in real life in the Dolomites. I really learned to climb. I was really hanging off mountains with skeleton crews,” she said.

James described the experience as “truly extraordinary,” noting the demanding hikes, remote locations, and physical strain involved in production.

“I’m really proud of this film, and can’t wait to share it with the world,” she added.

The actress also previously said she seeks out challenging roles, describing her career and personal life as something she wants to feel like an “adventure.”
