Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jesse Eisenberg will be honored with the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival’s prestigious President’s Award during its 60th edition, running July 3–11.

Gyllenhaal will receive her award at the opening ceremony, where she will also present her latest film The Bride! as part of the celebrations. Eisenberg’s recognition will come later in the festival, accompanied by a screening of The Double, directed by Richard Ayoade and co‑starring Mia Wasikowska.

As per Variety, Festival Artistic Director Karel Och praised both honorees, saying: “Maggie Gyllenhaal and Jesse Eisenberg are distinguished by a certain ‘trans‑Atlantic’ sensitivity. Their work as actors and directors has the ability to connect the New World and Europe while drawing on the most essential elements of both traditions. The humor of New York intellectuals is combined with wisdom, talent, and an original way of seeing the world.”

This year’s Karlovy Vary marks its 60th anniversary, with 12 films competing for the Crystal Globe. Among them is Hijamat, the latest feature from Iranian filmmaker Nader Saeivar, known for his collaborations with Jafar Panahi, including last year’s Palme d’Or winner It Was Just an Accident.

The Crystal Globe jury will feature New Yorker critic Justin Chang, filmmaker Amanda Nell Eu, Czech sound designer and composer Pavel Rejholec, producer Nadia Turincev, and filmmaker Eskil Vogt.
