Taylor Swift made history on Thursday as the youngest woman ever inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, stepping onto the red carpet at the organisation's 2026 induction ceremony in a striking black floral strapless gown.
The ceremony was held at the Marriott Marquis in New York City, where Swift arrived wearing a custom Givenchy creation featuring a bustier corset, a thigh-high slit, and elegant draping along the hip.
The look: Givenchy, red lips and $19,000 earrings
Swift completed the ensemble with her signature red lipstick and wore her hair pulled back into a low, curled bun. She skipped a necklace entirely, instead drawing attention to a pair of $19,000 diamond and citrine Mindi Mond drop earrings. She swapped the blue cloud-covered manicure she debuted at the Toy Story 5 premiere earlier in the week for a dark polish, and finished the look with black strappy heels.
A record-breaking induction
At 36, Swift is the second-youngest inductee in Songwriters Hall of Fame history overall. Stevie Wonder holds the record, having received the honour at 32 in 1983. Swift also becomes the first person to progress from winning the Hal David Starlight Award — which she received at the 2010 ceremony — to achieving full Hall of Fame membership, a distinction no previous recipient has earned.
As Page Six Hollywood exclusively reported last month, Swift performed during the ceremony. She joins the 2026 inductee class alongside Alanis Morissette, Kenny Loggins, Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of Kiss, Terry Britten, Graham Lyle, and Walter Afanasieff.
A nod to 2010 — and a possible Easter Egg
Swift's last appearance at the Songwriters Hall of Fame gala was in 2010, when she wore a lilac-coloured J. Mendel dress paired with Christian Louboutin slingback heels, and performed an acoustic rendition of "White Horse." Sixteen years on, she styled her hair in a strikingly similar fashion — a detail that will not have gone unnoticed by her most devoted fans.
A packed week for Swift
Thursday's induction capped a whirlwind few days for the "I Knew It, I Knew You" singer. Earlier this week, she appeared at the Toy Story 5 premiere in Los Angeles and attended Game 4 of the NBA Finals in New York — both within a 24-hour window.
