Florida prosecutors are seeking to subpoena Tiger Woods' medical records as they build their DUI case against the golf legend, stemming from his rollover car crash on 27 March 2026. Court papers filed on 13 June by the Martin County State's Attorney's office, reviewed by PEOPLE, outline plans to formally issue the subpoena on 30 June. TMZ first reported the subpoena news on Monday.

What prosecutors are seeking

The Martin County State's Attorney's office intends to subpoena Cleveland Clinic Martin South Hospital in Stuart, Florida, for "any and all reports documenting statements of [Woods'] regarding alcohol or chemical substance use" during his hospital visit on 27 March 2026. Prosecutors are also seeking drug screen results and the name of the person who carried out the testing.

Woods' attorneys have been given a 10-day notice to lodge any objections to the subpoena. No objections had been registered in court records as of 15 June, and Woods' attorney Doug Duncan did not immediately return a request for comment.

The crash and arrest

Woods, 50, was arrested on 27 March and charged with DUI and property damage after allegedly flipping his SUV while attempting to overtake a pressure cleaning truck near his home on Jupiter Island, Florida. Law enforcement said Woods appeared lethargic at the scene and was showing signs of impairment, though he was uninjured.

Police said Woods blew triple zeroes on an alcohol breathalyser test but declined to submit to a urinalysis test for the presence of other substances. Responding officers reportedly found two opioid pills in his pocket when they searched him at the scene.

Not guilty plea and treatment abroad

Woods has pleaded not guilty to both charges. Following the crash, he announced he would be stepping back from public life to seek treatment, which he subsequently underwent in Zurich, Switzerland, after a judge granted him permission to leave the United States for rehabilitation.

A history of incidents

This is not the first time Woods has faced legal or medical complications on the road. In 2021, he survived a rollover crash in California that came close to requiring the amputation of his leg. In 2017, he was arrested on DUI charges after being found asleep at the wheel on Jupiter Island, later pleading guilty to reckless driving. In 2009, he received a careless driving citation after crashing into a tree near his home.
