Jelly Roll files for divorce from wife Bunnie Xo after nearly 10 years of marriage
The singer and his wife are keeping their separation private following years together
Jelly Roll has filed for divorce from his wife Bunnie Xo after nearly a decade of marriage.
The 41-year-old artist, whose real name is Jason DeFord, reportedly submitted divorce paperwork in Williamson County, Tennessee, on May 18.
According to TMZ reports, sources close to the couple said the separation was a “mutual decision” and that the matter remains a private family issue.
Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo, whose real name is Alisa DeFord, tied the knot in 2016 after building a relationship that became a major part of the singer’s personal transformation story.
The divorce news comes after Bunnie Xo recently reflected on the challenges of long-term relationships and the importance of supporting a partner through difficult moments.
In an interview with People, she spoke about standing by someone during their lowest points and believing that people deserve opportunities to change.
“When you are with somebody for a long time, you are going to have to love them at their lowest,” she said, adding that seeing someone grow and improve can be one of the most meaningful parts of love.
Earlier this year, Jelly Roll also credited his wife for playing a major role in changing his life during his acceptance speech at the Grammy Awards, where he won Best Contemporary Country Album for Beautifully Broken.
While accepting the award, the singer praised Bunnie Xo for helping him move away from his troubled past, saying he believed his life could have taken a much darker path without her support.
In recent years, Jelly Roll has also focused on a major health transformation, losing a significant amount of weight after previously weighing more than 500 pounds.
However, the singer recently admitted that he had struggled to stay on track after holiday celebrations and an injury affected his routine.
In a YouTube update, Jelly Roll revealed that he had been avoiding the scale because he feared he had gained weight.
After stepping on it, he found he weighed 276.2 pounds, about 12 pounds higher than his previous progress.
Despite the setback, the “Son of a Sinner” singer said he remains committed to his fitness goals and is preparing to run the New York City Marathon, aiming to lose another 40 to 50 pounds before the race.
