Today Co-Host Savannah Guthrie, 54, marked Father's Day on Sunday with a rare family photograph on Instagram, showing her husband Michael Feldman, 57, cuddling their daughter Vale, 11, and son Charley, 9, in bed. Guthrie, who married the business consultant in March 2014, shared the image with a simple but heartfelt caption: "our hero happy fathers day." The post offered a rare glimpse into a family life the couple has largely kept out of the public eye.
A love story with a rocky moment
Guthrie and Feldman first met at his 40th birthday party in 2008 and began dating the following year. They got engaged in 2013 — though not without drama. Guthrie later revealed that the couple briefly broke up on the very same day he proposed, during a holiday in Turks and Caicos.
Reflecting on the moment during an April 2019 episode of Today, Guthrie recalled the tension that had built up in their relationship. "It got to the point where no one thought we were ever going to get married — including us, especially including me," she said. "We were kind of at that point in life where it was like, we're either going to have to decide to get married or we're just going to have to love each other but let each other go."
After Guthrie told Feldman she would end things if he could not commit, the evening took a different turn. "That night, the sun was going down, and he was like, 'Let's open that champagne they sent us,'" she recalled. He then got down on one knee, and Guthrie said yes after thinking about it "for about .2 seconds."
Feldman's Mother's Day tribute amid family heartache
The Father's Day post follows a difficult few months for the family. Guthrie's mother Nancy Guthrie, 84, has been missing since disappearing from her Arizona home in the early hours of 1 February, and the search remains ongoing. In May, Feldman shared his own tribute to mark Mother's Day, posting a photograph of Guthrie embracing their two children with a kiss on Charley's temple. "To the strongest person I know," he wrote. "Surrounding you with love on Mother's Day."
