Hailee Steinfeld, Josh Allen reveal meaning behind daughter Harper's name

Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen have shared more details about life with their baby daughter after recently revealing her name, with the Buffalo Bills quarterback saying fatherhood has given him a new purpose.

Speaking to PEOPLE while discussing his partnership with supplement brand Natrol, Allen reflected on becoming a father after he and Steinfeld introduced their daughter as Harper Haize Allen earlier this year.

Allen said welcoming Harper has transformed the motivation behind his career, even as he prepares for another NFL season.

"I love being a dad," he told PEOPLE, admitting that his sleep schedule has changed since his daughter's arrival.

He acknowledged the challenges of interrupted sleep but said he embraces the experience.

"You learn about the unpredictability of what sleep is and just the interrupted part of it, but again, I love being a dad, and I welcome that," Allen said, adding that getting enough rest remains important during the football season.

The quarterback also revealed that becoming a father has changed the reason he strives to succeed.

"I've said this in a few different interviews in Buffalo, of why my 'why' has changed and why I'm doing this, and it's not a personal 'why' anymore," Allen said.

"It's to show this little daughter that me and my wife are trying to raise how hard you need to work to accomplish something so great. So, I don't think that the approach changes, but the why behind it does."

Couple recently revealed daughter's name

Allen's comments come weeks after Steinfeld publicly revealed their daughter's name in a heartfelt letter shared on her Substack, Beau Society.

Addressing her daughter directly, the actress wrote to Harper Haize Allen, marking the first time the couple publicly shared the baby's full name.

The Sinners star had previously announced Harper's arrival in April through her Substack newsletter, writing: "Our baby girl has arrived!! We're feeling incredibly grateful and blessed and savouring these early moments."

More recently, Steinfeld also spoke about wanting to make the most of Harper's first summer.

During a Substack livestream, she said she wants to remain "completely present" because "life moves fast," adding that she now understands why parents say children grow up in the blink of an eye.

The actress and Allen have largely kept their family life private since welcoming their daughter, occasionally sharing updates as they embrace parenthood together.
