  • Dominique Swain replaces her for Saturday and Sunday events
  • Planned Scream 4 reunion with Nico Tortorella now cancelled

Actress Hayden Panettiere cancelled her scheduled Creep I.E. Con appearance at the last minute on Friday, July 10, 2026, due to an undisclosed emergency. The 36-year-old celebrity was originally slated to attend the horror film convention on Saturday and Sunday. Organisers quickly adjusted the event lineup by booking a replacement guest to fill her vacancy for the weekend schedule.

Page Six reported that convention organisers announced the departure of Panettiere via an official Instagram statement. The organisation stated that Panettiere experienced an emergency that prevented her attendance but noted they look forward to hosting her at an upcoming show. A representative for Panettiere did not immediately return requests for comment regarding the situation. The actress was initially scheduled to feature alongside her Scream 4 co-star Nico Tortorella in what was promoted as a cast reunion.

Convention officials subsequently announced that Lolita star Dominique Swain would join the event on Saturday and Sunday in place of Panettiere. The Scream franchise veteran joins a list of high-profile personalities who pulled out of the convention, including Scream 2 star Tori Spelling. Fellow actors Christina Ricci, John Carroll Lynch, and Carel Struycken also rescheduled their appearances for a later date. Despite these adjustments, the weekend event still expected appearances from Christopher Lloyd, Mira Sorvino, Tara Reid, Billy Zane, and Jamie Campbell.

Panettiere, who recently released her memoir This Is Me: A Reckoning, initially established her acting career as a child by filming commercials before securing prominent roles on soap operas in 1994 and 1996. While promoting her literary work during a West Hollywood panel discussion in May 2026, the performer described her early career as a child star as a brutal experience. She recalled facing an identity crisis at 12 years old while standing before rows of people judging her.
