Aaron Lewis claims music industry turned back on him
  • Aaron Lewis says patriotic beliefs cost him industry bookings
  • Singer claims he's no longer invited to Grand Ole Opry
  • New solo album, Give My Country Back, out July 17

Musician Aaron Lewis claimed the music industry turned its back on him due to his patriotic beliefs during a podcast appearance on Friday. The 54-year-old vocalist discussed his upcoming sixth studio album and explained how industry executives have intentionally sidelined his career during an interview on the Pickin’ It Out with Andrew Pope podcast. Lewis asserted that commercial music platforms have become excessively political, directly resulting in a lack of professional invitations.

The Pickin’ It Out with Andrew Pope podcast highlighted how these industry shifts affected the performer's live schedule. Lewis revealed he is no longer invited to perform at the Grand Ole Opry despite having played the historic venue numerous times in the past. He stated this exclusion occurred solely because he believes in his country, noting that the broader industry machine has no problem abandoning him. The singer expressed concern that his upcoming solo record, Give My Country Back, which releases on July 17, 2026, will be difficult for mainstream listeners to locate without an active search.

The vocalist originally achieved global fame as the lead singer and founding member of the rock band Staind before launching a solo country music career in 2010. Reflecting on his career history, Lewis acknowledged the milestone of reaching 30 years since forming Staind, describing his longevity as a true blessing. Although the rock group has officially become eligible for the Hall of Fame, Lewis insisted that an induction will never happen due to institutional opposition.

Political controversies have similarly affected other recording artists within the current touring landscape. Rapper Vanilla Ice recently faced intense public backlash after accepting an invitation to perform at the Great American State Fair. The event, backed by US President Donald Trump, celebrates the 250th anniversary of America. Following the official lineup announcement on May 29, 2026, multiple mainstream performers withdrew from the celebration, though Vanilla Ice defended his participation by stating music should bring people together.
