Howard Stern reportedly laid off around a dozen staffers from his SiriusXM show as he prepares to reduce his schedule to one new episode per week after Labor Day.

According to Page Six, employees were informed of the decision during a Zoom meeting on Monday. Staff members were reportedly told Stern plans to air just one new show each week when he returns from his summer break, with archived episodes expected to fill the remaining airtime.

Sources told the outlet that Stern retained a core group of veteran producers but no longer required a larger production team because of the reduced amount of new content.

The affected employees were reportedly sent home immediately after the meeting and will receive severance packages based on their length of service with SiriusXM.

New contract offers more flexibility

The reported changes come months after Stern signed a new three-year contract with SiriusXM in December 2025. At the time, the veteran broadcaster said the agreement would allow him greater "flexibility" while continuing his long-running radio career.

"I am happy to announce that I have figured out a way to have it all," Stern said after renewing his contract, adding that he enjoys having more free time alongside his broadcasting work.

His wife, Beth Stern, later praised the new schedule, saying it had been positive for him while allowing him to remain connected with listeners.

Stern, who first went on air in 1977 and joined SiriusXM in 2006, remains one of radio's longest-serving and most influential broadcasters. SiriusXM had not publicly commented on the reported layoffs at the time of publication.
