Kelly Clarkson jokes about ‘no more HR meetings’ after talk show exit
The singer shared a humorous behind-the-scenes confession, saying coworkers disliked attending HR sessions with her
Kelly Clarkson is looking back on the end of The Kelly Clarkson Show with humour, joking that one perk of wrapping up the NBC series is saying goodbye to workplace HR meetings.
During the opening night of her Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions – The Las Vegas Residency at Caesars Palace on July 17, the singer joked that she could finally speak freely now that her daytime talk show has come to an end after seven seasons.
“I would get fired by NBC, but I don't work there anymore,” Clarkson quipped, before admitting the show's conclusion was bittersweet. “We are sad about it. It was a fun show.”
The Grammy winner recalled often questioning HR policies, saying they felt very different from the environment she experienced while touring as a musician.
She joked that people on the road “wouldn't last” under the same workplace rules and teased that her coworkers dreaded attending HR sessions with her because she constantly asked questions.
Clarkson also poked fun at workplace etiquette around complimenting someone's appearance, calling some of the guidance “so dumb,” before laughing, “No more HR meetings.”
The singer previously announced she was ending The Kelly Clarkson Show to focus on her children, River and Remy, following the death of her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock in 2025.
While stepping away from daytime television, Clarkson confirmed she will continue making music, performing live and making occasional appearances on The Voice.
