Anthony Michael Hall reflects on 50 years in Hollywood
The veteran actor said he feels blessed to still be working while continuing to build his production company
Anthony Michael Hall is celebrating a major career milestone, admitting he never expected to enjoy such a long and successful journey in Hollywood.
The 58-year-old actor recently marked his 50th year in the entertainment industry, revealing that his mother reminded him his career began even earlier than he had realized.
“I thought it was 49, but my mom recently reminded me that I was eight when I got my first job,” Anthony told People.
The actor started out appearing in commercials and stage productions as a child before landing his breakout role in National Lampoon’s Vacation at the age of 14. Since then, he has remained a steady presence in film and television.
Reflecting on his longevity, Anthony said he feels grateful to still be pursuing new projects.
“I’m still working! I’m actively building up my production company and just always working, year-round. I’m blessed to have had such a long career,” he said.
While proud of his professional accomplishments, Hall revealed that his greatest achievement has nothing to do with Hollywood.
The actor, who married actress Lucia Oskerova in 2020, said finding his wife and becoming a father have been the most rewarding experiences of his life.
“I have found my soulmate. I have, and I love her,” he shared.
“And being a dad. It’s a full-time job... but we love it. We just embrace it, and he’s such a joy. Fatherhood and being a husband — that’s absolutely the greatest role.”
Hall also spoke positively about filming Fox’s competition series Nation’s Dumbest, despite previously dismissing reality television.
“I’d just spent the last 20 years of my life talking s*** about reality shows, because my wife is really into them,” he admitted.
“But I agreed, not knowing what it would be like, and it was just the best.”
The actor has also reflected on the challenges of becoming famous at a young age, previously describing the experience as overwhelming.
Speaking to The Independent, Hall said fame felt “off-putting and kind of scary,” comparing the sudden attention to being inside a horror movie as he adjusted to life in the spotlight.
