Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event to introduce new foldables and upgraded smartwatches

Samsung scheduled its latest Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event for July 22 at 9 am ET in London, hosting an invite-only showcase to unveil new foldable smartphones and wearable devices. The technology company arranged digital broadcasts of the product launch through its official website and YouTube channel, alongside live stream feeds embedded across online media platforms.

Promotional materials shared by technology leaker Evan Blass provided comprehensive details regarding the upcoming hardware announcements. The leaked images showcased a major redesign for the flagship Galaxy Z Fold 8, which featured a wider passport-like form factor when closed before unfolding into an extended inner display. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, the device included dual 50MP wide and ultra-wide rear cameras together with 10MP sensors on both its cover and primary screen, promising up to 26 hours of continuous video playback.

The leak also detailed the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which retained the slim and tall physical profile established by the previous Z Fold 7 generation. The upgraded Ultra model incorporated a larger 5,000mAh battery capable of delivering up to 27 hours of video playback. Meanwhile, the clamshell Galaxy Z Flip 8 appeared in the leak with a 4,300mAh battery and an unchanged camera arrangement comprising a 10MP front camera and rear 50MP wide and 12MP ultra-wide lenses.

Beyond smartphones, Samsung prepared updated smartwatches for the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event. Renders revealed the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 was designed 12 per cent thinner than the prior model, featuring a Snapdragon Wear Elite processor, an expanded 800mAh battery, and a screen brightness capacity reaching 5,000 nits. The standard Galaxy Watch 9 retained its familiar physical design while adopting the same Snapdragon Wear Elite processor.

The presentation was also expected to feature demonstrations of Samsung's upcoming artificial intelligence smart glasses. Developed in collaboration with eyewear brands Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, the smart glasses were slated for a public release later in autumn.
