Four-time Stanley Cup champion and hockey icon Claude Lemieux has passed away at the age of 60. According to reports, the former NHL star died by suicide at his family’s furniture showroom business in Florida. The tragic news comes just days after Lemieux made a memorable public appearance to support his former team, the Montreal Canadiens, by carrying the torch before game three of the NHL Eastern Conference Finals.

Known throughout his 21-year professional career as a fierce and aggressive competitor, Lemieux played for teams including the Canadiens, New Jersey Devils, and Colorado Avalanche. He famously earned the Conn Smythe Trophy as postseason MVP and was widely recognized for his high-energy, physical style of play that defined an era of hockey. He is survived by his wife and their four children.
