Taylor Swift’s lyric changes reignite major album release buzz
The ‘Call It What You Want’ singer makes surprise lyric changes to ‘Reputation’ songs
Taylor Swift has quietly made minor changes to her lyrics, leaving fans confused and speculating.
According to PEOPLE, the 35-year-old pop sensation surprised listeners by updating the lyrics to two tracks from her record-breaking Reputation album on Apple Music.
Swift altered the lyrics of I Did Something Bad and Delicate from her 2017 album after the songs were updated to Dolby Atmos sound.
In I Did Something Bad, the 14-time Grammy winner previously sang, “But if he drops my name, then I owe him nothin’ / And if he spends my change, then he had it comin’.”
The lyrics have now been changed to, “If a man talks s***, then I owe him nothin’ / And if he calls me a b****, then he had it coming.”
Meanwhile, Delicate also saw a subtle tweak, with Swift now singing, “Goddamn, never seen that color blue,” instead of, “Oh, damn, never seen that color blue.”
However, the Disney+ release of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: The Last Show, which debuted on Friday, December 12, still features the original lyrics to Delicate.
This unexpected move has taken the internet by storm, with Swifties speculating that the changes could hint at an upcoming Reputation (Taylor’s Version).
One fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “What is happening omg?”
Another guessed, “What if Taylor's team is doing this on purpose for promo so people are awake & engaging & staying up for the docuseries”
“My clown theory is that we’re getting Reputation vault tracks and originally written/unedited lyrics updated on album tracks,” a third fan suggested.
It is worth noting that Taylor Swift has released re-recorded editions of all her albums under Taylor’s Version, except for Reputation and her self-titled debut, following her former label’s sale of her masters, which she reclaimed in May 2025.
