Josh Hutcherson opens up about missing out iconic ‘Spider-Man’ role
American actor talks about auditioning for ‘Spider-Man’ role before ‘Hunger Games’
Josh Hutcherson recently recalled missing out one iconic role that could have paved his path in different way.
The American actor shared he was “in the running” to play Spider-Man movie before he landed his role as Peeta Mellark in The Hunger Games franchise during an appearance on December 9 episode of Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Dinner’s on Me podcast.
For those unversed, the role of Spider-Man eventually went to Andrew Garfield, who played the superhero in The Amazing Spider-Man, which released in theateres less than four months after The Hunger Games in 2012.
Reflecting on how Hunger Games changed his life, Josh said, “It was wild. It was crazy.”
“Just like a few months before I got cast in Hunger Games, I was in the running to be Spider-Man,” explained the 33-year-old.
Therefore, The Beekeeper actor mentioned, “I had gotten told 'no' to Spider-Man, which as a teenager felt heartbreaking because I really obviously wanted to be Spider-Man.”
“Then, like a few months later, I got cast in Hunger Games, which is like the craziest turn of events,” he continued.
Looking back at his acting career, Josh remarked, “Just crazy how it works.”
“Hunger Games just came out of nowhere, and it just changed everything,” he added.
