‘The Mask’ star Peter Greene passed away at the age of 60
Peter Greene’s manager, Gregg Edwards, shared details of his final conversation with the actor in the days leading up to his tragic death.
Edwards recalled speaking with the Pulp Fiction star on Wednesday, two days before Greene’s body was found in his New York City home, telling The Post on Saturday, “He sounded okay.”
“It was just a totally normal conversation,” Edwards said, explaining that Greene had shared his nerves about an upcoming surgery to remove a benign tumour near his lung.
“He was a little nervous about the operation going in, but he said it wasn’t super serious,” he added about the surgery which was scheduled for Friday, the same day Greene was found deceased.
Edwards, who has a planned surgery of his own, said the actor had wished him well.
“We’re good friends. I love the guy… We were friends for over a decade,” he said, adding that the phone call was his last with the actor.
Greene’s death came as a shock, as he was set to appear in the forthcoming movie Mascots, alongside Mickey Rourke.
According to The Post, a neighbour requested a wellness check after hearing nonstop Christmas music coming from Greene’s Lower East Side home.
When a locksmith entered around 3:25 p.m. on Friday, Greene was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at 60, while investigators suspect no foul play, and an autopsy is pending.
A neighbour told the New York Daily News that Peter Greene’s body was reportedly found face down with “blood everywhere.”
