Nicki Minaj sparks online buzz over Gavin Newsom’s views on trans kids
Nicki Minaj criticise California Governor Gavin Newsom on social media
Nicki Minaj has lashed out at California Governor Gavin Newsom in a series of X posts in recent days.
The rapper criticised the potential 2028 Democratic presidential candidate partly over his support of trans kids.
“I want to see trans kids… There’s no governor that’s done more pro-trans legislation than I have. No one has been a stronger advocate for the LGBT community,” Newsom said on The Ezra Klein Show on Wednesday.
In response, Minaj wrote, “Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Haha. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that. Normal adults wake up & think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids. Not Gav. The Gav Nots. GavOUT. Send in the next guy, I’m bored.”
The back-and-forth comes after Elon Musk’s America PAC posted a video of Newsom’s trans comments. Newsom’s office quote-tweeted it, writing, “We’re sorry your daughter hates you, Elon,” referencing Musk’s estranged daughter, Vivian.
Musk responded, “I assume you’re referring to my son, Xavier, who has a tragic mental illness caused by the evil woke mind virus you push on vulnerable children. I love Xavier very much and hope he recovers.”
Minaj continued to target Newsom, calling him, “the cute boy who got everything handed to him b/c of how cute & sexy & hot & smoking he was.”
The Side to Side rapper added, “Sitting there in that suit with the sneakers on. He thinks he’s Tom Cruise only difference is, his next mission IS impossible.”
On Newsom’s 2028 presidential prospects, she wrote, “Oh Gavvy pooh, it only gets worse from here for you, buddy,” alongside pictures of Chucky. “It’s the end of the road for you, my love.”
She also advised, “Get on the nearest jet ski & let that beautiful hair blow in the wind. It will make you happier than this race that you will not win. Enjoy life. Peace.”
In recent weeks, Minaj has aligned herself with Trump administration policies.
In November, she posted a screenshot of a Trump Truth Social post about the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, writing, “Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God.”
The rapper added, “No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other. Numerous countries all around the world are being affected by this horror & it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice.”
Nicki Minaj said, “God bless every persecuted Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer.”
