Khloé Kardashian opens up about ‘shame spiral’ of binge eating after Lamar Odom split
The reality star candidly shares her past struggles with binge eating
Khloé Kardashian has opened up about her past struggles with binge eating, revealing she once found herself trapped in a “shame spiral” before seeking therapy following her split from Lamar Odom.
Speaking on her Khloé in Wonder Land podcast, the 41-year-old reality star candidly recalled turning to food as a coping mechanism during emotionally difficult periods.
“When I was younger, I used to binge eat,” she said, describing a cycle where she would overeat to the point of sickness, feel disgusted with herself, and then continue eating out of shame.
Kardashian explained that therapy played a crucial role in helping her break the pattern, allowing her to understand better and manage her emotions.
She likened the experience to working through any emotional struggle, emphasizing that confronting the issue was key to healing.
Her 2013 divorce from Odom marked a turning point, prompting her to reassess her lifestyle.
She noted that her unhealthy eating habits had a “ripple effect” on her confidence and overall well-being, motivating her to make lasting changes.
Determined to feel better both physically and mentally, Kardashian gradually embraced fitness.
The reality star admitted the early stages were challenging, describing the first several months as “torture,” with little visible progress despite consistent effort.
However, she remained committed, starting with small steps before eventually working with a trainer.
Over time, she found that exercise not only improved her physical health but also strengthened her mental resilience.
“The more you exercise, the clearer your mind will feel,” she said, highlighting the psychological benefits of staying active.
Kardashian also reiterated the importance of therapy, particularly during periods of personal upheaval.
She said talking through problems helped her regain a sense of strength and closure, adding that it “did wonders” for her during breakups and moments when she felt she had lost a part of herself.
