Ryan Gosling daughters impress directors with on-set creativity in new sci-fi film

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes’ children are already showing signs of Hollywood talent.

At the New York premiere of Project Hail Mary on March 18, directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller praised the couple’s daughters, Esmeralda Amada, 11, and Amada Lee, 9, calling them “delightful” and “creative geniuses.”

The pair even lent their voices on set, helping Gosling interact with his character’s alien companion, Rocky.

“There’s a scene where they’re trying to pick the voice for Rocky, and we brought in the kids to do silly voices,” Miller said. “He laughed so purely and honestly that his reaction is in the movie.”

Gosling, who produces as well as stars in the film, occasionally wore an earpiece so the children could voice Rocky in real time, capturing authentic reactions for his character Dr. Ryland Grace.

Lord also praised Gosling’s energy and creativity on set: “He knew exactly what movie he wanted to make, and he’s playful and full of ideas. It’s not just his performance; he elevates everyone around him.”

The famously private couple, together since 2011, recently made a rare public appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on March 5.

Mendes joined the Project Hail Mary team at the premiere, posing with the film’s poster while Gosling celebrated his latest sci-fi venture.

Project Hail Mary, adapted by Drew Goddard and directed by Lord and Miller, co-stars Sandra Hüller, James Ortiz, and Lionel Boyce. The film hits theaters Friday, March 20.
