AMC cancels Anne Rice spin-off Talamasca: The Secret Order

Supernatural series will not return for second season despite critical praise and franchise ties

AMC cancels Anne Rice spin-off Talamasca: The Secret Order

AMC has officially decided not to move forward with a second season of its third Anne Rice adaptation, Talamasca: The Secret Order, as confirmed on Friday.

The series, which focused on a clandestine society responsible for monitoring supernatural entities like vampires and witches, was led by Nicholas Denton and featured a notable ensemble including Elizabeth McGovern and William Fichtner.

Despite the creative pedigree and its connection to the broader "Immortal Universe," an AMC spokesperson stated that they would not be proceeding with another season.

The network added, "We are proud of the series and grateful for the efforts of everyone involved. The Talamasca has a storied place within the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, and we expect to see at least some of these characters, and the organisation itself, in future expressions of the franchise."

The cancellation comes as the network pivots its focus toward the upcoming third season of its flagship series, Interview with the Vampire, now officially titled The Vampire Lestat.

Scheduled to premiere on 7 June 2026, the new season will see Sam Reid’s Lestat de Lioncourt embarking on an "electric multi-city tour" as a rock star.

This new chapter will explore Lestat’s rising influence over both humans and immortals during a period known as the "Great Conversion."

The first season of Talamasca: The Secret Order arrived on Netflix earlier this year and included crossover appearances from Eric Bogosian and Justin Kirk, reprising their roles from the main series.

While this specific narrative thread has concluded, the Talamasca organisation remains a central pillar of Rice’s lore, with its members expected to continue monitoring the chaotic legacies of the Mayfair witches and the vampire covens in subsequent seasons of the surviving shows.
