Russell Dickerson recently spoke about his interactions with Keith Urban at the Country to Country festival.
He shared insights on Urban’s current mindset following his split from Nicole Kidman.
During a chat with Page Six at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Thursday, where he was in the running for Favourite TikTok Dance due to his viral sensation, “Happen to Me,” he expressed excitement at spending time with Urban earlier this month.
“After each show, I’d tell him, ‘I adore you, you’re truly my inspiration,’” he mentioned, noting that he's never said this to anyone else.
“I’ve been on tour with many stars in the country music scene,” he stated, “but Keith Urban is truly special to me.”
Recounting the closing night of the tour, Dickerson shared that Urban watched his set in its entirety. “I learned how to play guitar from his music,” he commented. “He has been a massive inspiration for my guitar journey. Having him watch my performance was amazing.”
Dickerson humorously recalled occasionally glancing over during his performance and thinking, “Wow, he’s still watching!”
Although the two didn’t perform together since Urban was the main act at the event, Dickerson noted that Urban, having seen his performance, now knows of his skills. “Maybe one day, we’ll perform together,” he hoped.
When interviewed by Page Six about Urban’s life chapter post-divorce from Oscar winner Kidman, Dickerson shared that he feels the Australian country star is “doing wonderfully.”
Although they didn’t spend “a lot of time” together, Dickerson, 38, observed that Urban seemed “in a good mood.”
“Music has always been his priority, so he seems to be more dedicated than ever, which is truly wonderful,” Dickerson told us.
“I’m eagerly anticipating what he’ll create next.”
When the idea of collaborating with Urban was mentioned, Dickerson looked directly at the camera, suggesting that Urban had “heard” the comment, hinting at the possibility of working together soon.
Urban and Kidman, who have two daughters together, went their separate ways last summer after 19 years of marriage and completed their divorce proceedings in January.
While Urban, 58, is concentrating on his music, the Oscar-winning actress, aged 48, has stated she’s “moving forward in a good direction.”
“I’m always striving toward positivity,” she mentioned in an interview with Variety released earlier this month. “I am thankful for my family and maintaining it while moving forward. That’s what matters.”
