Jesy Nelson's cryptic quote on weathering 'storms' after twins' SMA diagnosis

Jesy Nelson has disclosed a mysterious saying about enduring "storms" following the news of her twins' severe SMA diagnosis.

The former Little Mix singer shared the touching statement as her twins battle their ongoing health issues.

The musician shared a heartfelt post on social media, alluding to the difficult path she’s navigating privately.

The quote stated: “You've faced storms before. And each time, you’ve found your way back to the sunlight. That's not luck. That's you.”

This revelation came after she courageously spoke out about her twins’ diagnosis, with fans offering their support as she shares her journey's ups and downs.

Named Ocean and Story, her twins have been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) – a genetic disorder that weakens the muscles by impacting motor nerve cells in the spine.

The most severe variant, Type 1, can result in a lifespan of less than two years if untreated.

Jesy consistently shares images of her twins being cared for by the dedicated staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Recently, she posted an image of her twins being fitted with leg splints. These splints assist in alleviating muscle discomfort and weakness.

Jesy expressed: “Today, I had to collect the girls’ splints because their feet were turned inward and need to be flattened, which made me quite sad.

“But have you ever seen anything cuter? Look at them. This one is Story, adorned with hearts, while Ocean has butterflies.

“It broke my heart though; it’s another reminder.”

Earlier this year, she opened up about the heartbreaking revelation regarding their SMA diagnosis.

Jesy described how her mother Janice first noticed concerns about the twins shortly after their birth.

She explained: “ A few months back, my mom realized that the girls weren’t moving their legs as expected.

“At the time, it didn’t worry me much because, ever since leaving NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), I was advised: 'your babies are premature, so do not compare your babies to others. They’ll reach their milestones at their own pace.’”

After sharing her twins’ diagnosis, Jesy is now advocating for the NHS to include SMA1 in the standard heel prick test.

She claims the test, costing about £1, might have “saved their legs” by allowing earlier treatment access.

Testing and timely treatment could have potentially spared the twins from disability.

Despite the distressing news, Jesy has chosen to continue filming her Prime Video show.
