Halle Bailey opens up on how son Halo transformed her confidence
The singer says becoming a mom made her feel 'grown-grown' and more self-assured
Halle Bailey opened up about how motherhood has reshaped her perspective, revealing it has made her feel more confident and grounded both personally and professionally.
The 26-year-old star shared that welcoming her two-year-old son, Halo, marked a turning point in her life.
Speaking to People, Bailey said becoming a mother made her feel “grown-grown,” adding that the experience has strengthened her sense of self.
“He’s made me more sure of myself and confident in my voice,” she said, describing “stronger” as her defining word for the year.
Bailey, who previously starred in Grown-ish, also spoke candidly about the emotional depth that comes with raising a child.
She admitted to being “obsessed” with her son, calling the journey of watching him grow both surreal and overwhelming.
“It’s very trippy to have a whole being grow inside you and now to see them run around and be their own person. I cry every day,” she shared.
While Bailey is no longer in a relationship with DDG, the father of her child, she emphasized the importance of having a strong support system.
The singer credited the “village” of women in her life for helping her balance motherhood with her career.
“You don’t do it alone… It’s a village job,” she said, adding that women deserve more recognition for managing multiple roles. “We can do it all… we need to give ourselves more credit.”
In a recent interview with The Guardian, Bailey also reflected on how motherhood has deepened her emotional and creative expression.
She described it as opening “a whole new portal of universal love,” one that has enriched her artistry.
“I feel like a different person… it’s made everything better for me — creatively, as a writer, as an artist and as a mom,” she said.
