Jake Shane reveals why he can’t handle the ‘too fresh’ food in one country
The content creator says his Broadway debut was all about 'the little things' that made it unforgettable
Jake Shane is giving fans an inside look at his Broadway debut, travel quirks, and his new partnership with Poppi.
The content creator, who went viral in 2023 for his comedic sketches, recently made his Broadway debut in All Out: Comedy About Ambition, performing from Feb. 17 to March 8.
Shane told People that it was “the little things” on stage that made the experience memorable.
“Watching Ray Romano wait to see if there was a good crowd every night,” Shane recalled.
“He would wait by the monitor.” He also shared sweet moments with fellow castmates, saying, “Jenny [Slate] and I would hug and say ‘I love you’ before every show,” and noting the dedication of Nicholas Braun, who practiced his lines daily.
Shane admitted he only felt nervous when familiar faces were in the audience. “It’s really just rinse and repeat, and once you tell yourself that, all the nerves go away,” he said, adding that he sometimes walked around his hotel or had an energy drink to calm his jitters.
Reflecting on achieving a lifelong dream, Shane said, “If I was standing next to 11-year-old me, he’d s--- his pants and faint at the same time. That was his ultimate goal.”
Looking ahead, Shane will star as himself in an upcoming Hulu comedy series, working with Hacks writer Genevieve Aniello and executive producers Alec Berg (Silicon Valley) and Paul Briganti (Saturday Night Live).
He credits his team for helping him balance his multiple career pursuits. “It’s about having a team around me that I can trust, and I do trust them,” he said.
