Jessica Chastain hints at July release for delayed thriller ‘The Savant’

Jessica Chastain has confirmed that Apple TV+ is moving forward with the release of her long-delayed political thriller series The Savant, which was previously postponed following the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Speaking at the Breakthrough Prize ceremony in Santa Monica, California, on April 18, 2026, Chastain said she now believes the series will finally be released.

“Before it was like, ‘I don’t know if we’re going to see it,’ but now I can say, ‘We’re going to see it,’” she said.

The series, in which Chastain also serves as an executive producer, was originally scheduled to premiere in September 2025.

However, Apple TV+ delayed its release following Kirk’s death, citing a need for careful consideration at the time.

At the time of the postponement, Apple TV+ stated it had decided to delay the series and would release it at a later date.

Chastain publicly disagreed with the decision shortly afterward, saying in an Instagram statement that while she respected the platform’s choice, she believed the show’s themes remained “more urgent than ever.”

“I’ve never shied away from difficult subjects,” she wrote, describing the series as centered on individuals working to prevent acts of violence before they occur.

Sources now indicate that Apple TV+ is targeting a July 2026 release window, though the company has not officially confirmed the date.

The Savant follows an undercover investigator who infiltrates extremist networks online, including dark web communities linked to domestic threats.

The series features an ensemble cast including Nnamdi Asomugha, Pablo Schreiber, James Badge Dale, Dagmara Domińczyk, and Jordana Spiro, among others.
